Catering for children from 18 months through pre-school age, ERO Tiny Dancers offers a delightful introduction to the world of dance. Our 30-minute classes, led by our ERO Director Miss Edwina, allow little ones to experience the magic of both ballet and jazz. Join us to ignite a love of dance at ERO!

Ballet

Ballet is a classical dance form characterised by its grace, precision and formalised movements. It combines dance, music and theatre to express and tell stories, while focusing on technique such as turnout, alignment and controlled, flowing movements. Famous works include Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and Giselle. Ballet is recognised as the foundational genre in the world of dance.

Jazz

Funky, powerful and forever evolving — jazz is upbeat and trendy. Influenced by pop music and seen in concerts and music videos for many famous artists, jazz improves fitness and flexibility as dancers perform rhythmic, funky movement to the latest hits.

FAQs

  • We want your little dancers to feel comfortable, so there are no uniform requirements for Tiny Dancers. They're welcome to come dressed as a fairy princess, superhero, or in their comfiest clothes. If you'd like to purchase the ERO uniform for this age group, you'll find it in our Shop — just follow the link in the menu.

For the end-of-year Showcase, Tiny Dancers wear the correct dance footwear, so we suggest getting into the habit of wearing ballet and/or jazz shoes each week so the little ones get used to them. It's a special part of dance practice, too!

  • We suggest bringing a small water bottle. Ballet shoes are required for ballet classes, and jazz shoes for jazz. Both will be needed for the end-of-year Showcase, so it's a great idea to get your Tiny Dancer used to wearing these shoes during their weekly classes.

  • We understand that starting dance classes can be a big step, and we want your dancer to feel comfortable and supported. If they're feeling unsure, parents and carers are welcome to sit in on the first lesson. After that, we ask parents and carers to use the waiting room directly outside the studio — there's a viewing window at the door so you can peek in whenever you'd like.

  • The end-of-year Showcase isn't compulsory, but it's certainly a highlight of the year for our dancers. Performing on stage may feel overwhelming for some children, which is why Miss Edwina and Miss Tori prepare them carefully to feel confident and comfortable. It's the most rewarding time of the year, watching our beautiful little dancers shine on stage. Have the tissues ready!
